What is lying to the Holy Spirit?
Lying to the Holy Spirit is a matter of life and death. Acts 5:1-11 speaks about ownership and allegiance. Ananias and Sapphira lied directly to the Holy Spirit in claiming to be saved or sealed with the Holy Spirit, when they were not.
False witnesses testify they have received Jesus and have not. Ananias and Sapphira deliberately gave their allegiance to satan. They took on the moral character of the one who is behind all deception, satan himself. As they chose to identify themselves with satan instead of Jesus, they were not believers. They had rejected Jesus’ flesh and blood sacrifice of Himself and chose to deceive the believers trying to cause disunity. The Holy Spirit through Peter exposed their deception. As a result they died.
God protects His people from being deceived in exposing the works of satan. The works of satan have no place or power over God’s people.
